September Letter from the Editor

“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”

― Kahlil Gibran

Welcome back, you guys!

Hopefully you all had a top of the line summer filled with stories that you can tell for the rest of your life; but that’s just me being whimsical.

I personally had a pretty…self reflective summer as I worked with some of the individuals who have submitted to this great issue of The UB Post that I am particularly proud of.

Over the summer, I was lucky enough to get a chance to work with several very strong women involved in the #MeToo Movement. They are honestly so strong and inspiring that it was truly a privilege to be able to help them tell their stories. The UB Post will stand by victims of abuse as long as I run this paper.

Another thing that I am proud of is our new partnership with the Maryland SPCA. Each month in our print issue we will be working with the SPCA to show you guys some animals that are up for adoption nearby. Every animal deserves a loving home so where else would be better than that of a UB student?

As we enter into this new semester, I believe it is important to remember that you are in charge of your own life. I have been watching people around me trying to conform to lives that aren’t necessarily what they want but what they will accept. You should never settle for things; you here at this school are working so hard and you deserve the best lives you can possibly get, you’ve earned it. So for those of you feeling like you need a voice and need to speak out, please reach out to us. Whether you want to be published in this paper or just need an ear to listen. The UB Post is here for YOU.

With that, I wish you all a great first month of the semester!

Enthusiastically yours,

                                        Olivia Dudley
